World of Warcrafthas been a juggernaut in the MMO gaming genre for a long time, which means it’s had years to rack up frustrations and complaints. Some gamers have been criticizing the game for as long as it’s been around, but after 10 years of dedicated play, one disheartenedWorld of Warcraftfan just deleted his characters during a livestream.
Twitch partner imQuazii is a veteranWorld of Warcraftfan who’s played for a decade, but yesterday, he held a stream titled “The Last WoW Stream? THE LAST ONE FOR THE ROAD. It’s been 10 great years.” He’s not the only MMO player who’s jumping ship fromWorld of Warcraft;fellowTwitch streamer Asmongold has also leftWorld of WarcraftforFinal Fantasy 14.

Fittingly, the livestream began with some technical issues, asWorld of Warcraftcrashed immediately. ImQuazii spent several minutes explaining his past with the game and saying goodbye to important in-game areas while he logged in and out of different characters, trying to get things just right for his final farewell. This was complicated by the fact that things went wrong with his UI. The number of errors he encountered while trying to giveWorld of Warcrafta proper goodbye may say something about how muchWorld of Warcraft’s development has been impacted by the Activision Blizzard lawsuit.
The streamer went on to create a list of pros and cons for the game, thankingWorld of Warcraftfor all the good memories it gave him over the years, before going on to list the reasons he’s quitting for good. The list includes reasons that theBattle For Azerothexpansion frustrated him, reasons the unbalanced Covenant system and other changes made in theShadowlandsexpansion hindered gameplay, and the simple fact that community feedback is not being heard by the developers. He states that while raids are still fun, the game itself is now in a bad state, and that like many otherprotestingWorld of Warcraftplayers, the reveal of the sexual harassment lawsuit damaged his faith in the company. In one final brief clip, imQuazii deleted each of his characters one by one and announced to the chat that he was done with the game.
On Reddit, the footage was taken with a grain of salt, as deleted characters can be restored pretty easily. One poster noted that if imQuazii was truly trying to render his account unusable, he could request a ban or terminate it. However, other users pointed out that this video is more symbolic than anything else. It serves as proof thatWorld of Warcraft, and thus Activision Blizzard, is alienating some of its most dedicated players, and not just becauseplayers are tired ofWorld of Warcraft’s subscription model.
