Summary

Warbands inWorld of Warcraft: The World Withinmake reputation account-wide, but not every faction will be included in it right away. WhileWorld of Warcraftmight eventually make all reputation shared across every character,The War Withinwill only be adding this particular feature for the expansion’s new factions to begin with.

ThoughThe War Withinadds tons of new stuff toWorld of Warcraft, one of the most highly-anticipated features is Warbands. More a group of smaller features under a single banner rather than an individual one,Warbands seek to make almost everything inWorld of Warcraftshared account-wide, including achievement progress, currencies, and reputation.

However, Warbands' reputation change won’t be what many players expect right away. All new factions inThe War Withinand beyond will share their reputation levels across all characters on a single account. That said,WoWcontent creator MrGM clarified that older factions will not be included in this feature immediately. WhileWorld of Warcrafthopes to make legacy reputations account-wide eventually, they will still be character-specific as of theWorld of Warcraft: The War Within’s pre-patchand launch.

Only New Factions Have Shared Rep in The War Within

There are numerous roadblocks in the way to making old reputation levels account-wide inWorld of Warcraft. Many players have different reputation levels on multiple characters spread across several worlds. What’s more, some factions are diametrically opposed to one another, such as Booty Bay and the Bloodsail Buccaneers from Vanilla and the Aldor and Scryers fromThe Burning Crusade, which would make account-wide reputation complicated. Even so,World of Warcraftseems to want to make this change happen, so fans can expect most reputations to become account-wide eventually, likely starting withtheDragonflightRenown factions.

Some fans are disappointed that old factions won’t be included in this Warbands update. While many players are gladWorld of Warcraftis adding these alt-friendly features, they think reputation should have become account-wide years ago. They have spent almost 20 years grinding rep across multiple characters and were disappointed to hear they have to wait even longer for legacy factions to be shared across their account.

Even so,World of Warcraftstarting to make these changes now is better than never. Even if some of them take time to fully implement, most agree knowing these features are coming is a huge step in the right direction. Warbands sets a fantastic precedent forWorld of Warcraft’s future and shows the developers areadding quality-of-life changesWorld of Warcraftplayers have been requesting for years.
