When asked just what went into makingWorld of Warcraft’s new Spell Gems, Dowling had a lot to say on the subject. For starters, the gems had to feel and look cool so players wanted to track them down. They needed to have wild effects, give players a ton of power, and make them feel like an unstoppable force in Pandaria. But along with this rule of cool, Dowling also went on to share that they needed to give players virtually limitless freedom.

There are a bunch of gems that benefit from high crit chance or a bunch of gems that will store up your damage to heal, or that your healing will actually do extra damage. It’s role breaking a little bit so that you’re able to really kind of customize how you want to shape your gameplay.

There are many different combinations for players to mess around with, which should give them a ton of control over just how they want to approachMists of Pandaria’s content. Additionally, the abilities that they will give players may not be standard for the role that they have chosen to play. Warriors may get blink, players may turn into a Red Crane, and the devastating effects of Thundering Orb may be unleashed on their foes. Whatever type of wild power players want, these Spell Gems offer them in droves.

You could probably hear from the way I’m talking about it, lots of cool ways to combine things, and we absolutely know players are going to surprise us.
