Players haven’t been wasting time puttingWWE 2K23’s create-a-wrestler tools to use bringing other wrestlers from in and outside WWE to life, with one player creating NXT’s newest signing and lucha libre sensation Dragon Lee. For as large as the launch roster is, there are still plenty of wrestlers missing especially fromWWE’s NXT brandfocusing on developing the future of the world’s biggest wrestling promotion. Lee appears set to be a major focus of the brand in the coming year, bringing his high-flying and speedy in-ring style to bear against stars such as Ilja Dragunov, Carmelo Hayes, and Tyler Bate.WWE 2K23is the latest entry in WWE and Visual Concepts' long-runningWWE 2Kseries, marking the tenth entry in the franchise since the first game from the partnership was released in 2013. A major focal point of2K23has been the newest Showcase mode, which lets players take on John Cena in some of the most famous matches in the star’s WWE career. Multiple modes also return including MyGM, MyRISE, and Universe for players to jump into after loading up the game.RELATED:WWE 2K23 Player Creates Sasha Banks aka Mercedes MoneThe game’s updated create-a-wrestler feature, though, has already seen heavy use immediately by players who picked up the deluxe versions ofWWE 2K23, with some players busy creating other wrestlers to use in-game including Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, andAEW star Kris Statlander. Twitter user Travis Alekz, though, decided one of their first creations would be the newest luchador under WWE’s banner. Alekz states in their post they specifically chose Dragon Lee’s ring attire from his final match before signing with WWE, where he and Dralistico faced FTR for the AAA Tag Team Titles, though did create a second, slightly different mask to alternate between.

One of the most touted luchadores in the world today, the 27-year-old Dragon Lee already had a wildly successful career before signing with WWE. Lee would first rise to popularity in Mexico’s oldest promotion, CMLL, before exploding onto the international scene with appearances in New Japan,Ring of Honor, and the many independent promotions across North America. He also made one appearance on AEW TV in August 2022, teaming with Andrade el Idolo and Lee’s real-life brother Rush, before WWE would swoop in and sign him a few months later.

Travis Alekz’s creation is timely as Lee made his TV debut sitting in the crowd for NXT’s recent Roadblock TV special, akin to how big-name signings such asRicochetand Keith Lee were first seen under the WWE umbrella during NXT TakeOver events. It also wouldn’t be surprising, given how new Lee is to TV, that he isn’t added to the actual roster until next year’s game which would make any create-a-wrestler creations the only options for players to don Lee’s mask in-game. While more will likely be added over the next year by other players, Alekz can hang on to the distinction of being one of the first to give the luchador a place in the game.

WWE 2K23is scheduled to release Jun 08, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
