Summary
2K just announced a big addition to the upcomingWWE 2K24—popular music artist Post Malone has been added to the game as a DLC character, and he’s also serving as its executive soundtrack producer. This is just the latest in a long-running tradition formany WWE games to include celebrities as guest wrestlers.
WWE 2K24is this year’s installment in the franchise, which 2K has been developing and publishing since the 2014 edition. In addition to that milestone, the game is also celebrating 40 years of WWE’s annual WrestleMania event. Because of that,WWE 2K24has a special 40 Years of WrestleManiaedition in addition to its standard and deluxe versions, which respectively feature this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and female Superstars Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley on the cover.

2K revealed that Post Malone has both worked on the game’s soundtrack, which it also unveiled, and signed up to be a playable character in a future DLC update. The full playlist showcases both Malone’s music and his hardcore and rap influences which include Busta Rhymes, Grimes, and Turnstile, to name a few. He says he chose these to help hype the player as they get ready to wrestle as their favorite WWE Superstars or their own custom creations. “The secret to a great video game soundtrack is a little something for everyone and for every mood. It gets you excited and it gets you pumped up to play,” Malone said.

The game’s roster is shaping up to be one that fans will love. Aside from Malone, boxing legend Muhammad Ali is also slated to joinWWE 2K24. Despite being an iconic boxer, Ali was a key figure in pro wrestling, first establishing the concept of mixed martial arts with his classic bout versus legendary Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki, then being part of the very first WrestleManiaas the special guest referee in the main event.
Anothermajor inclusion inWWE 2K24is The Fiend, the demonic alter-ego of fan-favorite wrestler Bray Wyatt who died in August 2023. WWE fans were concerned that his death may have resulted in his absence from the game, but 2K made sure to appease them by keeping him in. The Fiend is also getting a spot in the annual Showcase Mode, which will feature his outstanding Firefly Fun House match against John Cena from WrestleMania 36.

2K is pulling out all the stops this year, and it showsas early feedback ofWWE 2K24is pretty positive. New match types have been added, while developers have touted several quality-of-life improvements. Wrestling fans will have a lot to look forward to when the game drops on March 8.
