Relicta
First releasing in August 2020,Relictais a physics-based,Sci-Fi puzzle game, clearly inspired by the likes ofPortal. Players assume the role of a physicist, trapped onboard Chandra Base, located in the deep depths of the Moon. Over the course of the game, players will need to wrap their head around a range of mind-bending mechanics, including the ability to alter magnetic fields, and manipulate gravity. With such complex mechanics,Relictaprides itself on being a tough puzzle game, with some real challenge behind its scenarios. For those who like thePortalseries, this is certainly a game worth downloading.
Relictawill be available from July 16 to August 15.
Thrillville: Off the Rails
The first of July’s backwards compatible Games With Gold offerings,Thrillville: Off the Railsis an extremely unique theme park builder that lets players actually ride their own creations. Developed by Frontier Developments, the same studio behind thewildly successfulPlanet Coaster,Thrillvillewas released in 2007 and wasn’t met with the most favorable reception, with outlets giving it scores in the 5-7/10 range. Though the actual theme park building and simulation elements are a little lackluster, especially compared to Frontier’s modern offerings,Thrillville’s main selling point is the variety of mini-games that can be played when a new attraction is placed, which helps the player’s park feel a little more interactive.

Torchlight
Originally released in 2009,Torchlightis an Xbox Live Arcade classic, and is a must-play for anyDiablofans looking for a break from Sanctuary. An action-RPG,hack-and-slashwith an isometric perspective,Torchlightis an engrossing fantasy game, albeit one that’s certainly showing its age nowadays. The story is a little weak, players can only choose from three character classes, and the gameplay itself can get pretty repetitive, butTorchlightis worth at least a few hours of gameplay, even if it’s just to see how far the series has come since its debut.
